Investigating EFL Students’ Speaking Anxiety: A Case Study at English Department of UINSU

Anxiety about speaking English has received a lot of attention in recent years. Therefore, the purpose this study was to describe factors that caused students' language anxiety and their strategies for reducing at class. Participants were 5 students’ department second semester. The methods used descriptive qualitative. Data obtained from interviews observations. As result, it shows EFL students Department UIN Sumatera Utara, they feel English. Fear is due number factors, both internal external. first factor type task, fear making mistakes, role teacher, self-perception last limited exposure Moreover, finding also revealed there some reduce anxiety. There preparation before English, positive thinking, strategy peer seeking.
